Enhancing Community Services-Partnering for Success-Collaborating for Team Treatment

 

THE COLLABORATIVE YOUTH RESOURCE CENTER

The Youth Resource Center offers youth who have been identified as severely emotionally disturbed, emotionally handicapped or at-risk for such issues an opportunity to be themselves and hang out in a safe, friendly community atmosphere.  This program is a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of America and is located at 3025 W. Broward Blvd. Ft. Lauderdale; Fl. 33311and will be available from Monday through Saturday each week.  Participating youth will be offered structured skill training such as the computer-based Phillip Roy Life Skills curriculum that is comprised of over 50 modules and is designed to assist youth with the transition from parental dependency to self-sufficiency.  Invitations to become members of The Teen Advocacy Coalition, a youth-guided leadership group, will be extended to those youth eligible for TAC participation as well as peer mentoring trainings.

(Socializing, listening to music, board games, game systems [PS2, Nintendo Game Cube], movie watching, social outings-HANGIN’OUT!)

 

®Structured Programming/ Curricula

(Offering of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and Phillip Roy Life Skills curriculums)

 

®Peer Mentoring and Leadership Development

(Introduction to Teen Advocacy Coalition leadership group/activities, opportunities to mentor peers)

 

®Youth Development

(Introductory music composition and recording, athletics [football, basketball, kickball etc.], drawing, sketching, cooking lessons  and much more)
